Which dancers have left strictly 2011

Darren went back to his cricket career after winning the show, and retired in After the success of the first series, the BBC decided to air a second series of Strictly in the autumn of the same year, which is now the regular slot for the annual show.

Jill, who danced with Darren Bennett, went down in Strictly history as the first person to be awarded a perfect 40 score from the judges.

The first ever series of Strictly hit our screens in spring and ran between May and July before moving to its famous autumn slot as we now know it. What to Watch. Categories Strictly Come Dancing.

Can't you see you are being manipulated X-Factor style. Two series ago Dear John, by accident, became popular because the judes slated him each week.

At the time the judges hated it but it led to lots of wonderful publicity. Now such an act is demanded. Last season, Widdy, this season, roll out Nancy. Each week she gets ripped apart but somehow stays in. Don't tell me the judges have not been instructed to do this, since when did Alesha give anybody a 2? Its bad enough on a commercial show but the BBC should be ashamed.

Conceited Dan goes and Anton's fan base holds up strong! Astonishing result I think the fairest way for voting s the way 'X Factor' has gone this year and let the Judges decide.

At least they do know what they are doing with the exception of Alesha. Still think she should go.! It didn't surprise me at all that it as Dan who went and not Nancy - it's a synicle ploy to keep the ratings up. Even when the judges are in control of a competition it's plain to see - think Jedward in the X Factor, think Wagner!!

Frankly, think Susan Boyle. She can sing, but she's not that good. There are plenty better. When the result was announced Anton looked SO disappointed! I think they know who is going before they actually get on the dance floor. I feel sorry for everyone who has wasted their money to vote because it makes no difference whatsoever. For goodness sake have the bottle to get rid of the person who gets the fewest votes and that would have to be NANCY I'm very sad to see Dan and Katya go, I loved Dan's sense of humour, he was very endearing and Katya was making sure he improved every week.

What does Nancy offer?! At least with Ann we got a bit of a live wire. We laughed at what she would say or do. Nancy doesn't even have that. Plus, Nancy has failed to better Ann in two of the three dances Nancy has done so far.

The Waltz and Tango. Ann got 17 for the Waltz and Nancy got 12 for it. Ann got 21 for the Tango and Nancy only got And Dan was the one ousted? I'm sorry but Dan didn't endear himself to the public. Boy does he like himself, in fact if he was chocolate he would eat himself. I used to really like him but week by week on Daybreak I didn't like his arrogance. WE didnt all laugh at what she said or did.

Dan was bound to go because after Nancy he was the least good, and a lot of people vote for Anton du Beke regardless. His pairing with Nancy is car crash tele and many semi- sadists will want to see it get worse. Dan was a fool to himself. He wasnt a very good dancer but his arrogant cocky attitude didnt win him any votes either.

It was a travesty - Dan wasn't brilliant but he was far better than Nancy, who is nothing short of a very unfunny comedy act. Poor Anton - it can only be his fanbase keeping them in. If she doesn't go next week we will be back to the farcical situation of last year Seriously, if they hadn't scrapped the dance off we'd be rid of Nancy now. I know people love Anton, but if you love him stop putting him through the torture of having to try and teach that awful woman how to dance.

Never thought I'd say this, but The Widdicombe was better Please will you ask the producers, the judges and the contestants to stop taking us the viewers as a bunch of idiots. We all know that the results show is filmed on Saturday evening after the lines close for voting. So please ask everyone to a On the Saturday live show to stop referring to "Tomorrows results show", b On the results show to stop referring to "Yesterday".

It is just unecessary to continue to mislead the viewers. Personally I think the results show should be later on Saturday evening, This would also prevent the spoilers logging the result on the internet. For the record I thought the bottom two were ther right ones this week, although I think the wrong person went out of those two. Can I ask why it has been decided to remove the 'Dance Off'? I can't see what benefit this brings, having it made the elimination a much fairer decision, more about dancing quality and ability than being just a popularity contest.

The lack of a dance off really leaves me a little unhappy with it all though I still adore the dancing.

It would be interesting to know why this was removed and to what benefit??!! We're just going to lose more and more people who have potential I do not understand - Len is supposed to mark for the quality of dancing and he gives Russell a 7 and Harry 8.

Harry should have got all 9's at least. He was excellent. I agree with most that Dan was perhaps a tad unfortunate to get the boot this week instead of the mad Italian. But I also agree with McAnnie and a few others that Dan's arrogance and disrespect towards CRH was amazing, and that kind of thing irritates the public, because we all love CRH the pantomime villain. I also think that Katya isn't a judges favourite either because she always thinks that she knows better than the three proper judges sorry Alesha.

The format reverted to the original public vote having the stronger power as per the first 4 series. With issues of obviously unpopular people repeatedly saved by the judges. Also there was the problem of people deliberately voting excessively to keep poor dancers out of the danger zone to spite the judges, who then had to choose between better couples who should really have both stayed. I would criticise the voting system because viewers must pay to vote.

For this reason, the show does appear corrupted, bias, in some form. MrsArcanum Thanks for clearing that up - I guess I missed the first few so am used to the judges vote. Personally, I respect the judges far more than the public 'popularity' choices. It is, after all, a dancing competition so it disappoints when it's clearly not about the dancing Ricky Whittle anyone?! Turns it into a bit of a farce - it won't put me off watching, but I just don't care for the Sunday night show, nor the results as I know it's clearly not about who has danced well and who hasn't!

A real shame. The best thing about the first few weeks is watching the dance purists get their knickers in a twist cause a slightly better duffer went out before a slightly worse duffer. Chelsee Healey is a real cutie, very talented dancer, needs to start believing in herself. It was so cute the way she stood against Pasha while the results were being read out.

I think the 'Dance Off' needs to be reinstated for the next series - at least for the first six rounds - the public vote for final two could restart in week 6 when the weaker couples have left the show. We need to start trusting the judges - some of them may annoy us but at the end of the day they are the ones with the dance experience. I agree that Nancy represents pure car-crash tv and it's wrong that the celebs who have stuck to the rules and tried their best to learn to dance, should have to leave before the 'Nancy's' of this world.

I agree flatfeet. As things are, Anton's popularity is keeping Nancy in the competition and if it happens again next week a much better dancer than Nancy will leave the competition.

How about Anton takes over from Sir Bruce as presenter? I am a Brucie fan but even I am getting tired of his jokes every week. How about it BBC? I just wanted to say that I thought that Tess looked awful on Saturday evening.

Her hair and her make up were ghastlyyyyyyyyyyyyy. Can't stand this new and ugly way she has with her lipstick. She is such a lovely girl, but Hi everyone. Dan can count himself unlucky because I felt the judges underscored both his ballroom routines and didn't give him the credit he deserved but having found himself 3rd from bottom as he said in the results show he can't be too suprised that he was in the bottom2 but having said that once they said Nancey was in the bottom 2 I thought she had gone.

If the last series was anything to go by from the voting point of view I can put a positive spin on it because those who found themselves in the bottom 2 during those early week were always on the publics hit list and even if they didn't go out immediately it wasn't too long before they did go so it might be the same for Nancey. He was nowhere near the worst dance - the judges not including Alesha were mostly against him whilst praising Lulu.

Nancy was like a 'plodding donkey' and no she hasn't improved and she should have been the one voted off but there are many people who take great delight in voting for the worst dancer just to annoy the people who want it as a dance competition.

I wasn't convinced that Lulu was pleased about being kept in. I agree with you in the main there newmelinda. Dan was nowhere near the worst dancer but I do have to agree with Bruno on Nancy. She had improved from last week, admittedly not by too much but there was improvement there and I am glad Bruno recognised that and offered her a bit of hope. However she was rightly bottom of the leaderboard and should really have gone. I didn't begrudge her surviving the previous week as we only really had that awful latin to judge her on following that feather boa disaster during their waltz but this week her number should have been up.

What happened to Craig this week. Although very critical, his comments are usually constructive. He points out what the celebs need to do improve their dancing and his marking reflects this.

But this weekend he really disappointed me. I don't know how he could give Harry 8 points. Admittedly the few steps he did were good, but the actual jive content of his routine couldn't have been more than 10 seconds. On the other hand Chelsee's cha cha cha was a proper routine full of proper cha cha steps, which she performed really well. And Craig only gave her 6! And while Jason can certainly 'perform', I'm not sure he deserved a 9. Call me cynical but I cant help thinking the fact they're both Aussies is influencing Craigs marking.

Come on Craig, a little more consistency in your marking please, Daaaarling! The right result. There are lots of good dancers to worry about but Dan wasn't one of them. Also, this is entertainment not a pure dance show or we may as well just keep the young, good looking people and forget the rest from the start.

Keep Nancy in. I'd love to see her totter her way to the Glitterball. This comment was removed because the moderators found it broke the house rules. I'm really disappointed! I've been to many gigs at Wembley Arena, music, stand-up etc and the sound is always perfectly normal. DVD's I've watched at the same place have good quality sound. Either the sound engineer was having an off day and let's face it- we all get them or it was deliberately done to give the viewers the impression of size as all week they had been referring to how vast it is, and it wouldn't come across on TV.

And it is so obvious that Holly and Artem are not working as a partnership. Send Artem on leave to recover whether he needs it or not and let Brendan step in. Holly was clearly much happier with him last week.

Your enthusiasm and energy is unique and will be missed. Russel Grant has been fantastic!! I have said before if he was younger, fitter and slimmer he would be this years winner. Sorry you had to go but it wouldn't seem right if any real contenders had been voted off at this stage. They did it with Chris Hollins and suddenly a also run became a contender even though he hadn't improved. But to be fair Alex has improved, and her ballroom is impressive.

But i didn't like her jive it looked very clumsy to me, could be the flat shoes. Barbara How were you disappointed with Jason's jive? It was disappointing that he missed his step and had to catch up, but apart from that it was fantastic. I am pleased to read i am not alone with my disappointment with Wembly.

It was more like an obstacle race. What was that lump in the middle of the floor? It was to big for them to dance around, see Holly and Artem, and to small for the ballroom dances. The most successful dances were performed solely on this and where they have tried to use more of the arena they have lost timing and continuity.

As a possible alternative fund raiser why not sell DVD of the dances. I am sure they could raise an indecent amount of money for Children in Need if they could get a DVD of all Russells dances in the shops before Christmas. I am afraid the Wembley Arena is not for me I didn't like the centre stands sound quality poor no where near as good as Blackpool. The professionals dancers as usual outstanding, Really enjoyed "il divo" they were quality act certainly one of better one's that appeared on strictly.

Glad Russell is gone, it was getting ridiculous, more like a circus act each week. I want to see dancing, thats why i like Chelsee, Pasha always includes plenty of steps and not much faffing about.

The judging needs to be clarified, more emphasis is given to entertainment than technique now, i used to enjoy learning how a celeb could improve their technique. I can see over the next couple of series if this continues it will no longer be about the dancing, the vt's dont concentrate on learning to dance but more about entertainment they are awful.

Holly should not have been in the bottom two. Should have been Russell and Anita. Holly has had a very difficult time this last week or so not knowing who she would be dancing with.

I think she is great. The final should be between Holly and Harry as they are far the best. Harry always seems so unassuming that he is doing so well and just quietly gets on with dancing. I want to say a farewell to Russell and Flavia and thank them both for bringing some fun to Strictly. They both got on so well together and Flavia brought out the best in Russell she did wonders with the choreography.

I hope Russell will carry on dancing as he clearly loves to entertain and he has been looking fitter than ever. So thank you both for bringing the fun and entertainment to this series of Strictly, you are both two bright shining stars to remember.

Hi, I am a great fan of 'Strictly' but I did not enjoy the show from Wembley at all, the sound was awful, the cameras seem determined to use all the additional space availble to them to the detriment of the viewers as it was impossible to watch the dancing and form an opinion, it totally lost it's cosy and personal feel and heaven forbid the audience noise was like X Factor, ugh!!! Whilst I'm on my soapbox, why do the BBC insist on the pretence that the shows are filmed on seperate nights, come on, we all know the Sunday results show is filmed on Saturday night, please dont insult our intelligence!

All in all a fantastic show cant wait for next week. The situation is getting fascinating. Alex continues to improve and is now in the first division with Chelsee, Harry, Jason and Holly. Anita and Robbie remain in the second division. Now that Russell has departed we can focus on the quality of the dancing. I think Chelsee is the most consistent but who knows how it will develop? I hope Anita who has been impressive and Robbie are the next two to go. Yes Wembley didn't quite make it.

Will miss your entertaining dances though, Strictly will certainly be a duller place without you! I hope you keep up with the dancing Russell. Glad it wasn't just me who was underwhelmed with Wembley.

I think they should stick to Blackpool for future outings! Very disappointed with the Wembley show- the floor was far too big, the sound wasn't good and the camera angles were all wrong. It may have been a great experience for the audience at the venue but not for the tv viewers. Farewell to my Russell- you did yourself proud and cheered us all up! Thank you. Thank you Russell and Flavia. You put a smile on the face of everyone who watched you. The mirrorball will twinkle a little less brightly now that you have left the competition.

It was clever of the organisers to keep the four favourites in the second round of the eliminations - you knew there would be a shock couple in the bottom two and there were certainly some nervous people in our household. Mind you the cannon was a great idea. I would have angled it a bit higher though and removed the roof of Wembley Arena.

And maybe nicked the cannon from Edinburgh Castle instead of making one. I think with RG departing the benchmark that the show has always tried to live by will be clearer to those who insist that entertainment plays any part. They will see the quality of the competitive element shine through and what the show can be if it was more focussed on the dance element. Please don't do Wembley again - it was one of the worst shows I've ever seen.

The venue was simply too big to work on tv. It was a total waste of time, though probably put a few quid in the coffers.

If you need to leave the studios go back to Blackpool. I read the daily mail article on this weekend and they reminded us there are only 4 weeks until the final in Blackpool.

Be interesting to see how the remaining 7 couples cope with the pressure especially as SCD are upping the ante by getting the couples to perform 2 dances on the same night. Apparently this week there is a swingathon as well as the dance they are getting scored on but from the following week they will have to perform both a ballroom and a latin. I assume Russell knew all along when he'd be out - I'm sure his chart will have said! I also have to assume he knows exactly who's won! I like Anita usually, but thought she was poor on Sat!

Felt sorry for Jason Wembley just too cavernous to translate to the T. Blackpool next year please!! SCDFanatic, I agree. SCD succeeds because it combines the frivolous with the serious and over the past few series, the public has been amazing at judging just the right moment when the competition should be about the dancing and not just the entertainment.

That time had come this weekend. The memories of John Sergeant , Ann, and Russell are just as strong as the memories of Jill, Mark and Kara and the show is stronger because of all of them.

Can only agree with the comments about Wembley - much too big for a ballroom dancing competition, and the flashing lights didn't help. The professionals' dances were brilliant, as always, but I felt they had been choreographed solely to fill the vast space. And as to the audience! I watched the X Factor once just to see what all the fuss was about and gave up half way through because I couldn't stand the howling from the audience, and lo and behold we had the same thing again on SCC!

I shall miss Russell but we are approaching the quarter finals and it is a dance competition. Next to go? Hopefully Robbie - his performance on Saturday was I thought very poor, not much real dancing - and although unlikely I would cheer if Chelsee were to leave, Good dancer but surely one of the most irritating contestants ever.

Sad too see Russell go but what a gent, he bowed out graciously and without any bitterness, I am now a fan of his! Jason was not as good as he was made out to be, and he is a pro actor so should have performed much better, but ten to feel there is a bit of favouritism towards him from the judges. He is nothing special and although comments were made about his 'kicks and flips' they are not much use unless you remember the steps!

Chelsea could win this Robbie off next please, he is too much in love with himself heaven knows why not such a good dancer and do vane! Other than Chelsea, this series has been disappointing and going to Wembley was a mistake, too big to see the dancers, too noisy and rather disappointing to say the least!

Russel and Flavia were great fun, and I think they knew it was their time to go. A very 'dignified ' exit! Loved El Divo, but the sound quality from Wembley was awful. Totally agree with previous comments on Wembly Awful!! Camera work made me feel more seasick than usual. I thought the raised platform was really quite dangerous. Music was pretty awful too. Dance music needs to be 'strict-tempo' with a definite beat.

Most of that was just wishy-washy. Yes, you will never forget the good dancers or the bad dancers, you will always have good memories of each. I know that People have said in the past and i probably said too that It is a dance competition and the good dancers desire to win Strictly but it is also an entertainment show you need the likes of Russell, Ann, And John to be in it.

Agree with you Alex is getting better every week She is the one who is on the journey if went from learning in the first week to the top of the leader on Saturday night. Cheelsee is the dark horse of the competition.

HArry would be better if Alliona gave him a chance to show himself no offence to Aliona JAson was good from the start Holly -there is a chance of her winning if she gives more than she is giving and I thought that she was better partnered to Brendan than Antem Anita - i feel her time is coming to an end like Robbie's.

Why do people keep grouping John, Ann and Russell together? John could not dance, but added humour and a sense of timing; that is when to bow out. Ann could not dance.

I failed to detect the funny side and she went on and on and on. Beyond me. Russell on the other hand has rhythm. He has been dancing and performing. And the timing of his exit feels just right.

I'm with you about Chelsee Lincolnduncan. And behaving like a silly cry baby was ridiculous. She can dance, puts in the effort but I absolutely cannot warm to her at all. Wembley, don't do it again, very poor for the viewer, crowd too noisy. Would not watch Strictly if every week was at Wembley. I'm sorry folks but he can't dance. People may have thought he was amusing, but personally, he got on my nerves.

I really think they should bring back the judges dance off. Too many good dancers have gone too soon, because they keep in someone who makes a mockery of the whole thing. Strictly manage to pick someone like this every season, Ann Widdicombe, John Sergent Gotta agree with a lot of the comments, the sound spoiled Wembley for me, wasn't crazy about any of the dances to be honest or could it be I too full of a cold to notice ho hum :- , but defo agree that Holly danced better with Brendan last week, something certainly is missing between Holly and Artem.

Pleased that Russell went, and hopefully next week it'll be Robbies turn - sorry folks his "dancing" makes me cringe. I really like Chelsee's dancing but I keep getting drawn to those lips urgh!! I am so sorry that Russell has been voted out. It has been an absolute joy to watch him. He has bought colour and brightness to this wonderful programme. It is not often you see such an agreeable person, with no malice or confrontation. He got along with it, and totally enjoyed himself, I for one will miss him.

Julie Oxberry. We really enjoyed watching your dances and we called you the "funny man" in our house as you always made us smile and laugh. We will miss you on strictly. Please BBC do not use Wembley again!

The sound was dreadful and the space just too large for the dancers. I did not enjoy the show as the camera shots did not show the dancers to their advantage. Back in the studio next week, thank goodness. He was a very poor dancer all through his time, who refused to believe he wasn't excellent. He got to Blackpool in a wave of sentiment, and then was dropped like a hot rock. That cha-cha was as good as he ever got. I remember Flavia doing her best not to be embarrassed on all the ITT segments.

Wouldn't you start crying to if you thought that 10 million saw more than they should have, I know I would have. John left before the british public could vote him off and i agree with you that he couldn't dance , ann could dances, she was funny at the start but time went on she wasn't.
